Why Bolivia?

As Bolivia the poorest country of this continent help is on high demand. The big contrasts within society as well as between the cities and the country are causing many problems:

  1. There’s a rural exodus having negative effects on both the villages and the cities.
  2. Also there’s a lack of integration of the indigenous population (more than 60 % of the people claiming indigenous heritage) and small farmers.

Our Social Work

We support several rural villages for example with volunteer work. In collaboration with the villagers and the local administration we develop projects and help the villages with volunteer work in hospitals, schools, kindergartens, … That’s how we try to improve the living conditions of all inhabitants, especially of the young.
But also in cities our volunteers our volunteers are committed to social work and support intercultural exchange and a better international understanding.
Over the last six years more than 350 volunteers from Europe, the United States and Canada have come here to help.
The foundation of HI-Bolivia is organizing work experience in seven left-alone villages in the mountains and the Altiplano region, one of them even out in the world famous lake of Titicaca, but also in the lowlands.
